A Night at the Art Center, South Beach, FL

Saturday, February 27th, was the opening night for a new exposition at the Gallery of the Art Center in South Beach called "Rituals and Process".

And here is my friend Ily right in front of the "Writing on the Wall"

It was a collection of conceptual art and described the the artists visions about the today's society has changed their rituals from Religion to a more romanticized consumer blah blah blah. Ok, the last three words are from me and I am sure I did not catch the words of the curator properly. I wish there was more words of the artists themselves, instead of the curator.

Nevertheless, some work I saw there I found it interesting and some even quite good. But what I liked best was that my friend Ily showed me around the studio's in the Art Center. There you meet the artists and talk with them about their work. It is direct, open and you get the answers to your questions from the artists and from their point of view.

And we were not the only one to go around the studio's...

I had a great evening, met some great people and I even had my picture taken...

But that one is still in Ily's camera... ;-)

Ha! Are you trying to tell me I don't give you pics?? I ALWAYS give you pics...except this one time! :)

It was a lot of fun; I especially liked the visits with the artists and of course, the truffle guy! lol

Val, it was a great night and it is a shame the guy only sold truffles... we should try to get samples.

I laughed at "blah, blah, blah", cause I agree with you. I find some of the explainations of the so called experts boring as hell. It's the artists I want to talk to, too. Give me the source! Nice pictures! You all always have such a great time together.

Oh yeah, when I was at Uni I studied History of Art, and blimey it was all blah blah blah until I met the artist and that was very different. We were fortunate to visit the studio of the artist Bridget Riley, and I love her work, and as she explained it all, it made sense, unlike the blah blah blah the the tutors used.

Geez every blog I go on there's a photo of lly! She's almost as popular as Lady Gaga! :D

LLCJ: Ily is smarter than me with the camera, she lets other people take pictures of her with her camera. I just take pictures...lol
I don't know if she likes Lady Gaga that much...lol But yes they are both getting a lot of exposure.

Thanks for the visit Holland.....Tonight...well,last night, now....The Independent Spirit Awards were held here in Los Angeles....They are great fun and very relaxed! JEFF BRIDGES won for Best Actor and Gabourey Sidebie won for Best Actress (PRECIOUS) and Monique (PRECIOUS) won for Best Supporting Actress. "PRECIOUS" won Best Picture, Lee Daniels won for Best Director, ("Precious") and the writer of the screenplay won, too etc.....It Was Great!
All the nominees are from Independent Films and there is a kind of wonderful feel to the whole evening...PLUS, they can say anything they want for as long as they want! So....lots of honest cursing is heard...lol! On the IFC....It was great fun!
